Asta Lavista Hotel Living!

As many of you know we were back and forth with many different hotel stays for some months. During camp, during training, during vacations, etc. The state may have changed but the place of residence remained the same... a hotel.

Now I'm not the fondest of hotels, so thankfully we're out of that forsaken time, but during the many stays at hotels I picked up many tips and travel must haves along the way. Below I list some of my checks for choosing a hotel!

Check pricing. I mean this sounds self explanatory. If you plan on staying for weeks at a hotel you want to make sure you are getting the best rate possible. Luckily for us sometimes Briean stayed at the hotel and sometimes had room for both of us. But if not it was up to us to ensure the hotels we stayed at had great prices.

Check the area. Again self explanatory. You do not want to be caught in a hotel where you can't leave the 4 brick exteriors of it due to outside safety. Some of the hotels we stayed in were close areas to shopping centers. And let's be honest a hotel by a shopping center is never a bad location.

Check reviews. I check reviews for everything! Apartments, cars, phones, you name it. So it's only right that I check reviews for hotels we stay at. Checking reviews for hotels allows you to see just how those pictures match up with the real thing. Most hotel reviews include personal pictures from people who have actually stayed there. Those pictures mean more to me then the staged ones provided from the hotel.

Check discounts. This might be the biggest one for me. I LOVE DISCOUNTS! Sometimes hotels have hidden discounts that can benefit you. Places you work, shop, reward programs your in, etc. Checking along the bottom of some hotel pages or in their pricing sections can reveal some of those discounts. Use them in any way you possibly can! It could take dollars off your bill.

Check for fun. Isn't that the point of a vacation? Check for a pool, a hot tub, a sauna, a gym, etc. Whatever your fun is look for it on the website! Now yes, I still find hotels disgusting, but we've recently stayed in some nice hotels that have decreased my disgust just a bit. And visiting hotels months on in hasn't really given me a choice. So don't forget it's a vacation. Live a little!

Anyone stayed at hotels for months? I'd love to hear how you've dealt with it!
